Assassin’s Creed III – DLC To Be Non-Canon

Assassin's Creed 3 DLC tells the alternate history of 'King Washington'

The announced Assassin’s Creed III download content, The Tyranny of King Washington, is looking to be one of the most interesting DLC in a long time.

Set in an alternate history where George Washington has declared himself King, will not have any effect of the main single player campaign.

Instead it’s a bit more about the fun, according to lead designer, Steve Masters, here’s a snippet of his interview with Official Xbox Magazine:

“For us, we want to have a little fun with it and have a less serious experience, a less earnest experience, and setting it in an alternate history environment gives us room and freedom to play around with things in a more whimsical matter.”

Standalone expansions are definitely the way to go in terms of DLC. (Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City)

Previous games in the series have forced players to buy DLC which were integral to the story, something which angered fans so it’s good to see Ubisoft adapting to fans needs and any qualms should be quashed by this news.

Also, anybody else notice that the Apple of Eden is sitting atop his staff?

Interesting…
