The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has been delayed until Spring 2023, as confirmed in a new video message from series producer, Eiji Aonuma.
Mr Aonuma broke the news in a short, direct to camera video entitled ‘Launch Timing Update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel’. The video was shared on the official Nintendo YouTube channel. He apologised to those people that were looking forward to the long-awaited sequel to 2017’s Breath of the Wild.
Aonuma reinforced that the game will not just take place on the ground, but also on the skies above and that the game will offer a wider variety of features including new encounters and gameplay elements for fans to enjoy.
No new footage was shown off in the presentation although previously revealed gameplay was shown.
The exact reason given for the delay wasn’t specified, although Aonuma stated that the team would continue working diligently to deliver a game experience that is “something special”.
With this newly announced delay to one of 2022’s most anticipated titles, Nintendo’s winter release schedule is suddenly looking a little light. Hopefully, we will see Bayonetta 3 and Splatoon 3 arrive on the Switch before the end of the year.
