One of the most frustrating features of the Call of Duty franchise is the online lag, which can result in some pretty angry gamers.
While some die-hard defenders of Call of Duty will swear that they have never seen any lag online with their uber-fast-out-of-this-world broadband, and that lag is in fact a conspiracy against their beloved game, David Vanderhaar of Treyarch knows otherwise.
Thankfully, it seems that Treyarch are at least trying to do what they can about the issue.
When asked on Twitter whether matchmaking would be based on ping/latency, Mr Vanderhaar tweeted back “Yes. It is in and being tested. Not region based anymore. Latency/ping based exclusively.”
This is good news for Call of Duty fans and maybe it will result in fewer host migrations, a common complaint with players who are in on the “conspiracy.”
While this will be good enough for some, there will of course be the mandatory complaints from those who want dedicated servers.
There’s just no pleasing some people.
