Call of Duty: Black Ops III has recently been rated by the ESRB ratings authority for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, and as expected it’ll be a gore-fest by any account.
Treyarch has done a fine job in depicting the harsh, brutal realities of way in past games. World at War saw us burning Japanese soldiers and made us listen to their dying shrieks; Black Ops and its futuristic sequel saw us blow our enemies to bits with limbs flying here, there, and everywhere.
The good news is that Black Ops III will continue in Treyarch’s tradition of letting players dismember their foes, for better or worse. It may be a bit gruesome for some, but we’ve always felt that it lends some realism to a series that is – at least these days – more science-fiction than historically accurate shooter.
There’s good news for pot-heads, too. The emblem creator will let you tell the world that you’re a dope-fiend via the in-game emblems which the ESRB notes are suggestive of marijuana. No need to get all artistic, then: the hard work is already done for you…
The game hasn’t been rated yet for the PS3 and Xbox 360, though we’re pretty sure it’ll carry more or less the same warnings. However, the single-player campaign has been cut-out so it’s just zombies that’ll be losing an arm, leg, or head.
