Welcome to our 1000 run series: Hell Nihlathak. The purpose of this series is to record the loot drops in 100 run increments until we reach 1000 total runs of popular farms. This specific one focuses on farming the Hell Nihlathak for chances at Keys of Destruction. All items listed below are usually worth at least a Lem rune or higher. Let’s get right into it.
Why Hell Nihlathak?
Hell Nihlathak is one of the 3 mini bosses in Diablo 2 Resurrected to drop keys for summoning the Uber Tristram Portals. Runs can take anywhere from 1 minute to 10 depending on class and kill speed.
How to get to Hell Nihlathak
To get to Hell Nihlathak, Use the waypoint to the Halls of Pain in Act 5 and work your way to the Halls of Vaught to find Nihlathak. If you do not have the Halls of Pain waypoint, you must first rescue Anya.
After rescuing Anya, she will open a portal to Nihlathak’s Temple. Once inside make your way past Pindleskin and Enter the Halls of Anguish. Work your way down from the Halls of Anguish into the Halls of Pain making sure to grab the waypoint and then into the Halls of Vaught where you will find Nihlathak.
Notes For Farming Nihlathak
Nihlathak himself has a random roll on his affixes. He can be immune to all of the different magics and physical abilities. There are only 3 maps for the Halls of Pain making finding the Halls of Vaught easy.
If you see Snakes in the Halls of Vaught, be careful as they do a charge and a poison shot. Upon killing a mob in Nihlathak’s room, He will use the corpse explosion spell which deals heavy damage. An item like Nature’s Peace ring with the stat enemies stay slain is recommended while farming him.
Loot
All runs were done with minimal Magic Find as the focus of the runs were to obtain Keys of Destruction and potential High Runes. The drop rate for keys is low so sometimes you can go more than 50 runs without seeing a key.
