Games are fairly expensive as far as luxury items go but there’s the chance to save a few quid on Ubisoft’s latest open-world titles thanks to Origin.
Thanks to a tip-off we’ve learned that some players are able to legally purchase Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed: Unity via Origin for a considerable amount less than they would retail in the US, UK or mainland Europe.
Using the Indian Origin store you can shave off over half of the retail price for the PC versions of both Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Far Cry 4, though you’ll have to jump through a hoop or too in the process.
Firstly, you’ll need to have an Origin account and have your debit/credit card linked to said account.
Secondly, install the Hola browser plugin which allows you to change your IP address to that of another country. Select India for your proxy server and then head over to the Origin store, which if all has gone correctly will present you with the Indian version.
Browse the Indian Origin store and add Assassin’s Creed: Unity or Far Cry 4 (or both!) to your basket and then proceed to checkout.
Here’s the critical part of the process. Once you’ve clicked checkout, disable the Hola plugin, therefore reverting your IP address back to your normal one. From there it’s just a matter of proceeding with payment and SHAZAM! You’ve saved yourself a tidy sum.
Please note that according to the tip we received about this method of obtaining the games, you’re not breaking any of Origin’s terms of service, but we can’t be absolutely positive. So if you intend to go ahead with the method laid out above, then you do so at your own risk.
If you’re a console gamer and intend to play these on the PS4/Xbox One, then you can order Assassin’s Creed: Unity from Amazon and get some DLC for free, as well as Far Cry 4 which also includes the Amazon-exclusive Blood Ruby Pack. Nice.
