In a recent interview with IGN famous movie and monster make Guillermo Del Toro said, “I love working with Kojima-san. We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills].”
For everyone who had a chance to play the PT demo, or even just saw it, this is great news. Even if the continued cooperation won’t be a Silent Hill game, they could create a heavily Hill’s inspired game and give birth to some truly adorable abominations.
Del Toro went on to briefly describe what the cancelled Silent Hills game would have played like. He stated “we were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that.”
While this does sound amazing, at the end of it Silent Hills will be no more and Del Toro seemed to agree with everyone else saying “we were in the planning stages, and it’s a shame it’s not going to happen.”
