The Xbox News Blog announced today that Diablo 2 Resurrected is available for free for a short time (March 15th – 21st) starting today and ending next Wednesday . Diablo II: The Resurrected and its expansion, Lord of Destruction, are now available as a free trial on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. This is a great opportunity to play the very polished and fun relaunch of one of the most popular Blizzard games of all time.
As a Diablo 2 fan myself, I can say the game meets all my expectations and then some. It’s well done.
To enjoy up to three hours worth of gameplay all you need to do is download D2R during the free trial period which lasts from March 15th to March-21st, 2022.
If you decide to continue the trial and dig deeper into this tale of darkness, any progress made while exploring Sanctuary or conquering the many evils within will be transferred.

What is Diablo 2 Resurrected?
The world of Sanctuary is a wonderful place to visit for both new and experienced players. Fans of Blizzard’s classic RPG will be immersed in an epic story featuring fully remastered audio and 3D graphics. As you seek to find the Dark Wanderer’s fate, fight the Burning legions of demons.
Diablo II Resurrected marks the definitive remastering of Diablo II and its Lord of Destruction expansion. These are two iconic entries in Blizzard Entertainment’s action-role-playing series. Diablo II’s classic gameplay can be enjoyed by both new and old players.
The Diablo 2 Resurrected remaster only updated the original game’s graphics, network functions, and did not alter its item systems or game balance. D2R overlays feature upgraded 3D models that sit atop Diablo II’s original 2D sprites. It can toggle between legacy and enhanced visuals by pressing a button. Remastered cutscenes were also included. The game has been well received overall and has 4K graphics resolution and 7.1 Dolby Surround sound.
Blizzard made small improvements to the gameplay, but left the core gameplay unchanged. A Shared Stash allows players to transfer items between their characters. This is in contrast to the original game which required a third item mule character to facilitate the transfer. You can toggle automatic gold pickup and display ground items. Now, the game reminds players that skill points are permanent and reminds them to spend skill.
