Disney Dreamlight Valley Update: New Content
We know more content is on the way to Disney Dreamlight Valley. Two packs of post-launch updates have been announced, both due out before the end of this year. The first update is set to bring a host of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, including improvements to photo mode and better optimization for the PlayStation 4 of the game.
More exciting, this first update is labelled as a Lion King update, with the second one bringing Toy Story to the game. So far, we know Scar will be joining the game in this first update. Also, we know the update will continue the main story, and that the Lion King will factor into this. There are more things coming in this update that have been kept quiet, but regardless, we know this is a big one.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Update: Release Date
The exact date of this update is not yet known. The roadmap for these updates lists two releases, one due in Autumn, and the second due in late Autumn. As it is currently October, the end of Autumn, it seems like both updates should be here soon.
We can safely say this first update is nearly here, as the developer, Gameloft, made a statement on September 27th that the first update was approximately three weeks away. That brings us to October 18th, so perhaps we can expect to see Scar and more of the Lion King cast in Disney Dreamlight Valley as soon as next week.
