With the darker tone and more open nature of Sonic Frontiers, many fans have wondered if the game features a chao garden as fans are comparing the game to the Sonic Adventure series. However, is this actually the case? We have a definitive answer.
Is There A Chao Garden in Sonic Frontiers?
While a chao garden would be a neat nostalgic feature in Sonic Frontiers, it has been confirmed that it won’t be coming back in Sonic Frontiers. It was such an iconic mode in the Sonic Adventure games, so it’s a shame it hasn’t returned. At least we can unlock the soap shoes from SA2.
In a quick-fire interview with Game Informer, Sonic the Hedgehog series producer Takashi Iizuka confirmed that the feature will not be returning. He provided no context as to why but with so many asking for a return to the chao garden, maybe it will return through DLC or a future game in the series. You never know. Iizuka did confirm that the chao aren’t extinct to Game Informer, which is funny for long-time fans of the blue blur.
What Side Missions Are There In Sonic Frontiers?
When you begin to explore the open zone format of Sonic Frontiers, you’ll realize there are quite a few side missions you can take on. For example, there are capture points throughout the world that will help uncover more space on your map. You’ll need to solve simple puzzles or finish objectives to activate them. There are also mini-bosses that can be defeated for various rewards that help you progress. You’ll need some specific abilities that you unlock through the skill tree to gain an advantage as well.
Another element of Sonic Frontiers is the Cyberspace Levels, which give you certain challenges to complete like finding all the red coins or finishing the course in record time. You’ll need to do these to get all of the chaos emeralds.
