You must know how to change classes in FFXIV if you choose the wrong class at the beginning of the game and want to switch to another role. Moreover, some of the classes in FFXIV are not available during character creation. They can only be acquired after progressing the game to a certain point and completing the prerequisite quests.

How to change class in FFXIV
In FFXIV, you can change class by switching to the weapon exclusive to your desired class. But before that, you must unlock the respective class by visiting its Guild Hall once your character is level 10 and completing the blue quests to unlock the class.

Note: Some of the classes that got added with expansions require you to be at a certain level and complete specific blue quests to unlock them.
Suppose you started your playthrough with the Thaumaturge class. If you want to switch to another class, let’s say, into a Pugilist. Your first task should be to visit the Pugilist Guild located in Ul’dah and talk to the NPC named Gagaruna to start the Way of the Pugilist quest.

Doing so will sign you up for the Pugilist Guild and give you a set of quests that you can complete to unlock the Pugilist class. Ultimately, you will get the Weathered Hora weapon you can equip to change your class from Thaumaturge to Pugilist.
But remember, in FFXIV, armour pieces and other equipment are class-exclusive. When you switch your class, your character will become naked. So, go to your inventory and manually equip the Pugilist class equipment or make a Gear Set preset from the Characters Tab accessed by pressing ‘C’ on your keyboard and switching to it whenever you want to change to the Pugilist Class.

- Level up your character to level 10. (Level 15 if the class you want to switch has its Guild out of Ul’dah)
- Go to the class Guild.
- Complete the blue class quest [Most of the class quests start with “Way of the ‘insert class name'”]
Note: Some classes, like Rogue, will have their class quest out of their Guild, though in the same city. So if you don’t find any class quest inside the respective class Guild, open your map and look for the blue quest markers with the ‘+’ sign. They will lead you to the respective class guild, eventually triggering the series of quests that unlocks the class.
