Remember, depending on the size of the rare animal; you must use the correct restraint to capture them. This is because it doesn’t matter whether you successfully capture them or let them escape, each try will cost you the restraint.
So, before starting your rare animal hunt on Island Sanctuary in FFXIV, we recommend you first aim to reach Sanctuary Rank 6. Once that is done, you will receive the recipe to craft Makeshift Restraints.
