GTA: San Andreas Voted Best Game of All Time by Gaming Public

What’s the best game you’ve ever played? It’s a tricky question isn’t it? If you’re anything like us lot, you’ve probably racked up hundreds of hours of gameplay time across hundreds of titles. So which is the best game of all time? The guys over at I Want Cheats recently conducted a survey asking that very question; the results are a little surprising.

Coming in at number one was Rockstar’s GTA: San Andreas. The open-world epic released more than a decade ago, yet somehow it still resonates with gamers across the world. Since its original release all those years ago, GTA: San Andreas has been re-released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, it’s been ported to mobile devices and has even been re-released again this year for the Xbox 360 at retail – now that’s staying power.

Second place was, quite surprisingly, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead. Telltale Games’ take on the zombie property received critical acclaim upon release, and rightly so. The story driven nature of the game, where the focus was placed on characters, personalities and player decisions, really did prove that not all games – even zombie ones – have be about smashing heads in and running around like Rambo in an apocalypse.

Third place on the survey was the timeless classic from Nintendo; The Legend of Zelda: The Orcarina of Time. Released back in the days of the Nintendo 64, Orcarina of time was a landmark in gaming. Sure it had its problems, but almost two-decades on it’s still a fan favourite.

Rounding out the top ten were: GTA: Vice City, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil 2,  Fallout 3 and Resident Evil 4. Not a bad bunch of games, eh?
