Still cheaper than we all expected

Pre-orders have opened today for GTA V on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but there’s something a little iffy about the pricing, despite it actually being really, really good.

Rather than being a full-on $60 release, as many had assumed it would be, GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is surprisingly cheap. However, it’s cheaper on PS5 than it is on Xbox Series X|S.

On PS5, players can pre-order the GTA V Story Mode for just £8.75/$9.99, whereas on Xbox Series X|S, players will have to stump up £17.49/$19.99. This could be due to the fact GTA V Online will be given out as a freebie for PS Plus members on PS5.

Rockstar hasn’t given any official announcement on the pricing structure or any explanation as to why GTA V costs less on PS5, but either way, it’s not as terrible as many had assumed; the assumption among many players was that Rockstar would charge full-whack for this next-gen edition, just as it did when GTA V re-released on PS4 and Xbox One after spending a couple of years on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The next-gen version of GTA V will offer a whole range of graphical improvements to bring the game closer to the PC version of the game, with ray tracing, higher frame rates, denser cities, and much more.

GTA V is available to pre-order today and will release digitally on March 15th on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A retail package has been confirmed for an April release, though there’s no exact release date for the physical version yet.
