Zelda games typically have a lot of side quests and The Abandoned Laborer quest in Tears of the Kingdom is an interesting one to solve and play through. From the west of Death Mountain where it can be started, here is the full The Abandoned Laborer TOTK walkthrough.
What do you need to do for The Abandoned Laborer?
The Abandoned Laborer is a Tears of the Kingdom side quest found in a tunnel near Death Mountain. Specifically, it can be found in the Death Mountain West Tunnel, which is located near a minecart track to the west of the mountain.
Inside, you’ll find Mota, a character who can’t get out of the tunnel. So, he needs Link’s help quite severely.
To free him, you’ll have to use some of your surroundings to get creative. It’s time to use Ultrahand to solve this part of the side quest in the game.
How to complete The Abandoned Laborer
To complete The Abandoned Laborer in Tears of the Kingdom, look for a nearby minecart and place it on the track using Ultrahand. Then, speak to Mota and get him to sit inside the minecart.
Your goal is to create enough force to move the minecart over the gap in the track. There’s a gap with a lava pool below, so you need the cart to move fast enough to jump straight over this gap.
Luckily, there are some rockets nearby that you can use to give the minecart more speed. Break the rock wall at the end of the tunnel to reveal a new cave full of rockets. Don’t use bombs to break the rock wall – they’ll blow up in your hand due to the heat. Instead, fuse a stone to a weapon and use that to smash through the wall.
After doing so, pick up a rocket using Ultrahand and attach it to the minecart. You can attach multiple if you want to. Make sure they’re facing the correct direction, then hit them to activate them.
This should send the minecart flying over the gap with Mota inside.
