Finding a 3 shot bow in Tears of the Kingdom
In order to get a 5-shot bow in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll actually need a 3-shot bow in your possession. This is a bit easier to obtain than a 5-shot one, but the primary method of finding them requires you to take down one of the toughest enemies in Tears of the Kingdom, the Lynel.
Lynels are difficult enemies to defeat. You will have to take on a Lynel carrying a bow and defeat it to add the 3-shot bow to your possession. All Lynel bows should be 3-shot, but some are stronger than others.
You can find a ton of Lynels in the Floating Coliseum in the depths, and various other locations all over Hyrule including West Hyrule Plains, Deep Akkala, Tama Pond and more. But be warned, if you go to the Coliseum you will have to fight lots of Lynels in a row to complete the challenge.
You can also find a 3-shot Lynel bow in Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave in the southeast, west of Eventide Island in the bottom right corner of the map.
There’s also the 3-shot Forest Dweller Bow, which can be found inside chests dropped by Like Likes in the Great Hyrule Forest, or by completing Walton’s Treasure Hunt. This is a side quest you can start in Korok Forest.
Upgrading a 3-shot bow to a 5-shot bow
Now that you have a 3-shot Lynel bow in Tears of the Kingdom, it’s time to upgrade it to a 5-shot one. To do this, you will need to find a Rock Octorok.
These Octoroks are common in the area around Death Mountain. Head to Goron City and go to the Marakuguc Shrine. Then head northeast to the place shown on the map above.
You can upgrade weapons by finding a Rock Octorok and placing the item in front of it when it starts sucking in the air. It will absorb the weapon and spit it back out with an additional buff, with a random chance of it being a 5-shot bow.
This will only work with 3-shot bows. You might also need to use Ultrahand to move the bow, as you can’t throw bows as you can with swords or spears.
You should remember to manually save before you attempt to do your upgrades because you might not get the upgrade you want. It took us around 10 tries before the Octorok graced us with a 5-shot bow.
That’s all you need to know about how to get a 5-shot bow in Tears of the Kingdom.
