Link’s trusty horse, Epona, is almost as iconic to the franchise as the legendary Master Sword. With four stars across all stats, Epona is a great horse to add to your roster.
In the latest entry, you can find Epona in a number of ways. Keep reading to find out how to tame Epona in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
If you have a save file on your Switch for Breath of the Wild that already has Epona chilling out in a stable, you’re in for an easy ride. She will be transferred to your new game, alongside any other steeds you’ve reigned in.
If you’ve never played Breath of the Wild, or simply not got around to taming Epona, never fear! You can still get her in Tears of the Kingdom.
You’ll need to get your hands on either the Super Smash Bros. Link or the Twilight Princess Link Amiibo to summon Epona.

How to use Amiibo in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to get Epona
To summon Epona using Amiibo, you’ll need to go into the settings and make sure that Amiibo functionality is turned on.
Next, open your abilities wheel by using L and select Amiibo. Hold one of the above Amiibos to the NFC reader in the right Joy-Con control stick and your best girl will spawn.
If Epona doesn’t spawn, don’t worry! Try again in an area where horses are already spawning. Remember, you can only use an Amiibo once per day! Although, you can always change the date in your Switch settings if you want Epona as soon as possible.
