It’s possible to make music with lasers and Stakes in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and in this guide we’ll show you how. Players recently made this discovery, and it has opened up a whole new world of musical creativity in the Zelda sandbox.
If you want to know how to make your own tunes, keep reading.
Tears of the Kingdom: How to make music
It turns out you can make music in Tears of the Kingdom by placing Stakes in the ground and shooting them with a laser – or a Beam Emitter as they’re called. Moreover, doing so produces different pitches based on how you placed them.
To do this, you need a bunch of Stakes, a Big Wheel, a Steering Stick, and a Beam Emitter. You can find all of these Zonai Devices in Device Dispensers in the game.
Place the wheel flat on the ground, then attach a Steering Stick to the centre of it. Next, attach your Beam Emitter to the Stick and steer it. You should then start spinning while shooting a laser beam.
If the laser passes through a Stake, it will make a sound. As mentioned, different Stake placements will produce varied sounds, so be sure to try a range of set-ups to make your custom TOTK music. In terms of potential, not only is it possible to re-create famous themes from other games, but even to come up with your own dynamic tunes as well.
It’s a bit of an awkward process, but as long as you have enough Stakes, you can re-arrange and experiment with them to your heart’s content. It’s also a good idea to save the wheel contraption to your Autobuild list, so you can make one anytime you like with Zonaite.
Tears of the Kingdom: Where to get Zonai Devices
In order to make music with lasers and Stakes in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need to have enough Zonai Devices to make it work.
Whilst there are many different Device Dispensers on the map where you can obtain the items you need to make music, you’ll also need Zonai Charges to feed into the dispensers in exchange for the devices you get.
Below, here is a list of Zonai Device Dispenser locations you can go to for the various parts you need:
- Just before the Gerudo Canyon Pass – gives you Stakes and Big Wheels.
- Near Tarrey Town – also has Big Wheels as well as Steering Sticks.
- Valor Island in the South Lanayru Sky Archipelago – has Steering Sticks and Beam Emitters.
- Sokkala Sky Archipelago north of the Water Temple – dispenses Stakes.
- Starview Island in the North Gerudo Sky Archipelago – also dispenses Stakes
As you may have found whilst playing the game already, Stakes or other Zonai Devices can be found at other random locations as well.
In fact, they can even be rewarded to you for beating certain bosses too. There’s no guarantee, it’s certainly important to keep an eye out whilst exploring dungeons and areas in the story to find extra devices that may be hidden away.
That’s all you need to know about how to make music using Stakes and lasers in Tears of the Kingdom.
