Is the classic Zelda villain Demise in Tears of the Kingdom? The newest trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has some fans wondering whether old villain Demise might be making another appearance. Let’s take a look at the evidence we have and determine whether this big bad is bound to show up or not in the upcoming Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Who is Demise in The Legend of Zelda?
Fans of the Legend of Zelda series might be familiar with Demise. He was the final boss of Skyward Sword, a Wii game which was later remade for Nintendo Switch.
He’s a sort of predecessor to Ganon, the main villain of The Legend of Zelda franchise. Ganon has had many forms throughout the years, and Demise is thought to be one of his first forms.
Upon defeating him in Skyward Sword, Demise warns Link that he will be “reborn” as another incarnation of his hatred, starting an endless cycle. Most fans agree this new incarnation is Ganon.
But why do some Zelda players think Demise could be making a re-appearance?
Is Demise in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
The third main trailer for Tears of the Kingdom has sparked all kinds of speculation among the Zelda fanbase. Not only is it an incredible trailer, but it also shows some hints of story moments and possible characters.
At one point in the trailer, we see an evil-looking figure with long, flowing red hair. Interestingly, Demise’ most unique physical trait is his fiery red hair.
It’s possible that this figure is supposed to be Demise. We already know that Ganondorf, another of Ganon’s forms, will be making an appearance in Tears of the Kingdom. It certainly seems possible that Demise could be there too.
Demise could be one stage of Ganondorf’s transformation. We see him start as a husk before being reborn into his new body, so maybe Demise is just another transformation we’ve yet to see fully. It would certainly be an exciting moment for Skyward Sword players to see Demise appear mid-battle.
However, we’ll have to wait and see if any of this turns out to be true. The shots we see of this fiery-haired figure could just be a reference to Demise, not a fully-fledged reappearance in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
