The Monado is a legendary weapon that the first game’s Shulk wields, and in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Noah can control it as well. Unlocking the Monado weapon skin in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, however, is quite challenging if you have an empty wallet. Here’s how to get it.

There’s no easy way to say this, but the Monado weapon skin can only be unlocked by scanning Shulk’s amiibo into the game. That means you’ll likely be shelling out many pounds/dollars on a plastic toy if you want to secure this special attachment. Currently, on eBay, the figure is selling between £30-60 ($35-70). Another 2022 Nintendo Switch title Monster Hunter Rise: Sunrise also has amiibo, which gave Layered Armor Sets.
To start the amiibo scanning process, pause the menu with the Y button. Now, head down to “System” and then after pressing the A button, find the “amiibo” tab near the bottom above “Options” and below “Control Guide.” Next, pick up your Shulk amiibo and hold the bottom circular base down on the NFC touchpoint. You can do this either on a Joycon or Pro Controller.
After that, keep holding down the Shulk amiibo until it scans to 100%. You can now let it go. The game will then prompt you that you can equip the weapon skin at the Clothing menu.

Equipping The Weapon Skin In Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Head back to the main options screen, and choose “Characters.” Then, close to the bottom above “Interlink,” you’ll find a “Clothing” tab. After that, you should see an option to change the weapon skin to the Monado. However, it will only work with Noah’s default Swordfighter class, so don’t get used to it.
If you have not reached Chapter 3 in the story, you will not be able to change any clothing as of yet. You’ll need to wait until then.
