Here’s something we didn’t see coming; Stallone’s Rocky franchise is carrying on with a sequel to 2006’s Rocky Balboa. Well, kind of.
It’s not a true sequel to Rocky’s story as the focus of the upcoming film will be on the grandson of Apollo Creed and how he enlists the help of the former World Champion to aid him in his journey.
What’s more is that it won’t even take the Rocky name in its title, instead the movie is expected to release under the name ‘Creed.’
“Creed will center on the grandson of Apollo Creed. He’s raised in an upper-crust home thanks to his grandfather, the young man doesn’t have to box and his family doesn’t want him to. But, he has the natural skill, instinct and gifts that made his grandfather the heavyweight champion. Creed’s grandson turns to Balboa, who is out of boxing completely and not eager to return.”
We all though we’d seen the last of Rocky but Stallone seems adamant to keep his best-known characters alive. He’s even donning the bandana one more time to wrap up the story of John Rambo with Rambo: Last Blood.
What do you reckon? Do we really need to be seeing these characters again? Let us know down in the comments section below.
