Over on the official Destiny website you’ll find all the details of what can be carried over from the last-gen release to the next-gen version.
The biggest point here is that a lot of people may want to play Destiny, but only have a PS3 or Xbox 360, but are expecting Santa Claus to pop a PS4 or Xbox One under the Christmas tree this December. Naturally players will be concerned about paying twice for the same game, or even paying a small nominal fee to upgrade, as well losing their progress and having to start from the bottom again.
Thankfully you wont’ have to do any of that. Basically if you buy the digital copy of the game on your current console then you can download the next-gen version for free, as well as the Expansion pass if you purchase that at a later date, or if you buy the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition then you can get the base game and the expansion for your new console.
It’s good to see that Bungie/Activision are supporting the players, and crucially their wallets. It makes sense really, if you don’t have to pay to upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One version of Destiny, that leaves your Christmas moolah free to purchase other games, with Activision hoping you’ll jump aboard Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Will you be getting the PS3/Xbox 360 edition and upgrading after Santa has done his rounds? Or are you going big from the word go?
