Earlier this month 2K Games announced the opening of a brand new development studio, Hangar 13.
2K Games is a subsidiary company of Take-Two Interactive who you may recognise as being the owners of GTA V developer Rockstar Games.
Whilst the announcement was nice enough and we got a little bit of information about the studio, very little was said about what their upcoming project would entail. Actually, nothing was said. We’ve had to go digging around in the dirt of the internet to find out.
What we do know is that Hangar 13 are developing for the PS4, Xbox One and PC and thanks to the recent slew of job postings over on their official site, they’re gearing up development big time.
Each of the job listings contain the following text which reveals some tiny clues as to the nature of the unannounced project:
“We’re currently creating an intense action game set in an immersive world and with a strong narrative, but player agency is at the heart of everything we do. We want to give players the freedom to choose how to overcome challenges and make meaningful decisions that shape the world and characters around them.”
Granted it’s not a lot to go on, but from the wording of the phrase “we want to give players the freedom to choose” sounds like Hangar 13’s secret game may be another open-world title for parent company Take-Two Interactive to make bucket loads of cash from.
At the moment the project is still in the early stages of development so don’t expect to see or hear much about this one for a while.
Hangar 13’s development team is made up of industry veterans who’ve worked on the likes of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Star Wars 1313, so they’re definitely a talented bunch. It’s also interesting to note that the heads over at Hangar 13 have excelled in third-person action/adventure games, a trait that could carry over to their new project.
