According to Reuters, platform holder Microsoft will be officially announcing the purchase of Minecraft developer Mojang.
A source close to Reuters has passed on that the deal worth $2.5 billion dollars will be unveiled as soon as today. Whether this is true remains to be seen, but we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for information.
The rumours of Microsoft intending to buyout Mojang started gaining momentum last week and with neither Microsoft nor Mojang officially commenting on the rumours, they’ve been left to stir.
According to Reuters, Mojang co-founder Markus Persson will leave the company once the deal has been finalised. Again, this is all just hearsay for the time being but it’s certainly looking more and more likely.
