Sony has recently confirmed that the light bar on the PS4’s Dualshock 4 controller cannot be switched off in order to save battery life while gaming. This was confirmed on Twitter by Shuhei Yoshida, the current president of Sony Worldwide.
This new light bar on the Dualshock 4 controller is one of the many changes that has added for the Playstation 4. Sony have also included tighter analogue sticks and curved triggers. I for one am happy about the tighter analogue sticks, one downside to the Dualshock controller that has always irked me is the way in which too much gaming (on my part) loosened up my control sticks. Finally Sony have responded to the publics complaints.
The Dualshock light bar will have different uses for different games, however one use that has already been noted is as a health bar in titles such as Killzone: Shadow Fall. This will certainly add a new dimension to gaming; it will probably also add a few extra pennies to your electricity bills.
