Hopes of a console port of the immensely popular DayZ mod for Arma II are high at the moment as Sony are working to strike a deal with the developers.
Apparently Sony is working hard to bring DayZ to the PlayStation 4 with meetings being held with Bohemia Interactive. Dean Hall, the creator of the DayZ mod spoke of the possibilities in an interview with The Escapist, telling how they have met with Sony and that the firm is eager to get the zombie mod ported over to the PlayStation 4.
“Certainly I think if we don’t, for want of a better word ‘up,’ the PC release then I would say a console port is almost certain. I know a lot of people get really hot and bothered about it. Like, I’m not a console gamer, I’m a PC gamer, but I don’t think it necessarily has to hurt things.”
Hall goes on to say:
“It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in, I think we just have to wait and see. We’ve talked and met with Sony, and they’re very – you know, they’re obviously interested.”
This would be a great addition to the PlayStation 4’s catalogue of launch games, of which we still don’t know. DayZ has proven itself popular amongst hardcore zombie fans and continues to gain new players every day, so a PlayStation 4 version could only do good by, you know, making the developers and publisher money. Of course it also introduces players who don’t play on PC’s to a game they would have otherwise missed out on.
