Pokemon GO is heating up just in time for May to come around. As May is set to roll around, Pokemon GO is introducing the Instinctive Hero event.
This event introduces new research, new Pokemon and much more as you assist Team Instinct with your research. Here is how you can take part in the Pokemon GO Instinctive Hero event.

Pokemon GO Instinctive Hero event: Dates, times, new Pokemon, research tasks & more
Start Date & Time
The Pokemon GO Instinctive Hero event is set to start on May 2, 2023, at 10 AM local time. This event runs for a week in the game and will finish on May 8, 2023, at 8 PM local time.
New Pokemon Debuts
Within this new event, there will be two new Pokemon joining the mix. Larvesta and Volcarona are finally being added to Pokemon GO. The Torch Pokemon can be hatched from 2 km, 5 km and 10 km eggs. If you are wanting to get a Volcarona, you can get it from evolving Larvesta with 400 Larvesta candies.

Pokemon GO Instinctive Hero Eggs
From 2 km, 5 km and 10 km eggs you have the chance to hatch Larvesta. However, from 7 km eggs, you have the chance to hatch the following:
- Mime Jr
- Happiny
- Mantyke
- Karrablast
- Timburr
- Axew
- Shelmet
- Goomy
Every Pokemon available in the 7 km eggs except Goomy has the possibility to be shiny.
Event Bonuses
As with most events in Pokemon GO, there are plenty of bonuses that encourage players to play the game during the event. These are the following bonuses:
- Increased chance of catching Shiny Pokemon from 2 km, 5 km and 10 km Eggs
- Double XP for hatching Pokemon
- Double Stardust for hatching Pokemon
Special Research
As with most events, there is a Special Research story for players to enjoy. This one revolves around the Team Instinct leader, Spark. If players complete this story, they will be rewarded with an encounter with an Elekid that is wearing a Spark-themed accessory. Not only that but if you get lucky, it may be shiny!
Field Research Encounters
There is plenty of Field Research task encounters for players to enjoy, too. By completing the Field Research, players will have the opportunity to have encounters with the following Pokemon:
- Chansey
- Magneton
- Electabuzz
- Mantine
- Snorlax
- Chimecho
All of these Pokemon except for Magneton have the potential to be shiny if you encounter them.
