PS Vita and 3DS Outsell PS4 and Xbox One in Japan This Week

Well, isn’t this a bit of a surprise. According to the Japanese sales charts, the PS Vita isn’t quite dead and the 3DS is doing pretty well, too.

Both handheld consoles managed to shift more units than the PS4, Xbox One and PS3 combined. Shocking, truly, especially when you consider the fact that the PS4 and Xbox One are both getting a healthy dose of new games tailored towards Japanese players.

As for the week’s top games in the region, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon takes the top spot while Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker slips into second.

The rest of the top-ten chart looks like this:

  • 3. Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team/White Dog Squad (3DS)
  • 4.Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS)
  • 5.World Trigger: Borderless Mission (PS Vita)
  • 6.Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4)
  • 7.Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (3DS)
  • 8.Splatoon (WiiU)
  • 9.Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS3)
  • 10.Resident Evil Revelations 2 (PS Vita)
