Well, the first PSN outage of the year didn’t take too long, did it? We’ve been hoping that this year would be a marked improvement over the last, but we’re barely a week into 2016 and we’re already reporting outages. Bah, humbug.
At the time of writing, we’re not able to get online with any of the PlayStation devices, nor are we able to get onto the store to spend our Christmas gift cards.
We’ll be keeping an eye out on the service and will be sure to let you know of any updates. For the time being, Sony is suggesting the usual troubleshooting lark, but it’s pretty pointless, really.
[Update – 19:00 GMT: The PSN service is still down for most players. We’re still unable to get onto the PS Store, nor are we able to play online. PS Now is also a no-go. Boooo! Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated through the first outage of 2016.] [Update – 21:00 GMT: The PSN is still down. Sony has said that its engineers are working on restoring the service, but we’ve yet to see any improvements.] [Update – 04:00 GMT: The PSN is back up. Hooray! Phew, they had us going for a while there, didn’t they? Flashbacks of three week outages have been keeping us awake in the Cabin. All is well again, so get back to playing, folks.]
