Rise of the Tomb Raider Has No Nudity or Sex, But There is Some Drug Use and Lots of Violence

Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider is but a mere few weeks away. In fact, it’s only 66 days until the follow-up to 2013’s Tomb Raider is released into the wild for Xbox One and Xbox 360 players to hunt down and enjoy.

We’ve recently seen how the two versions of the same game compare to each other, and we’ve also learned that Rise of the Tomb Raider has no multiplayer component. Today we learn that Lara Croft may have a bit of a drug problem.

The Australian ratings board has recently done its job by rating the Microsoft-published action-adventure sequel. The ratings authority notes that there’s no sex or nudity (sorry pervs) but violence is heavy and there are some themes and language which will be a touch more adult than your standard episode of Power Rangers. As such, it has been awarded a M15+ rating to ensure that no youngsters are able to play it until they turn of age. Yeah, like that’s really gonna’ stop little Timmy…

The rating also makes note of the very mild impacts of drug use within the game. Given that Lara’s young, probably single, and exploring some exotic parts of the world, we wouldn’t be surprised to see our English heroine toking some of the good stuff* with some of the local inhabitants on her second journey. Either that or licking the back of some juiced up toad. Okay, it’s more likely that painkillers or something will feature somewhere along the way, though we’d prefer to see Lara partake in the former suggestions.

While this rating is for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 release, don’t expect much, if anything, to change between the initial launch and the later one for other platforms.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will release on November 10th for Xbox One and Xbox 360. PS4 players won’t be playing with Lara until late next year, while PC players will get their release sometime earlier in 2016.

*Good stuff is not good stuff. Drugs are bad and you shouldn’t do them. They’re very moreish.
