Last year some images of Guerrilla Games’ new IP were leaked. Though this was obviously a bad thing for GG and Sony, fans of the veteran development house were left impressed by what they saw.
Since then there has been absolutely nothing. Guerrilla have been playing their cards extremely close to their chest, but there is some reason to believe we may see a bit more of their upcoming game, code-named ‘Horizon.’
A recent tweet from Guerrilla Games gives us the vaguest of hints that they may be gearing up to show off their hard work later on this year.
Happy new year everyone! We’re back to business again and can’t wait to make this year succesful!

Possibly an E3 announcement? We’ll have to wait and see.
Then there’s a couple of clues as to the nature of Horizon, though be warned, this is just a bit of a theory at the moment and it could very well turn out to be incorrect.
Take a look at the snippet below taken from a recent job posting on the GG website, see if you can spot the clues.
Guerrilla is on an epic quest for a Senior Concept Artist with an architectural or industrial design background. Like a modern-day Daedalus, you will design complex environments to contain the monsters and ensnare the heroes of our flagship titles. You will supply highly detailed blueprints and asset designs for these environments to the production artists, and work with the Visual Design Team to create an original, consistent game world. Since you will be participating in all phases of the design process, good social and communication skills are a must for this role.
Requirements
Are you the heroic Concept Artist spoken of in legend? We want to hear from you if:
- You’re passionate about – and have good knowledge of – industrial design, graphical design, architecture, art and culture;
- You’re comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team;
- You’re comfortable working within a predefined style;
- You have excellent creative skills and insight.
It’s been rumoured that GG’s Horizon will be an open-world RPG of sorts, something that is quite believable when you take a look at the leaked images for the game.
Did you notice anything in the extract? How about the phrase ‘epic quest’ and the casual name dropping of Daedalus, the same Daedalus that in Greek legend fathered Icarus, for whom he crafted a pair of wings that allowed Icarus to take to the skies.
Rumour has it that Horizon is set in a post-apocalyptic future where humans are now being hunted by giant dino-mechs, so exactly how Greek legend would fit into it isn’t exactly easy to explain.
For the time being we can only speculate as to what Horizon’s setting will be, until Guerrilla Games decides to spill some of the proverbial beans, this is our best theory.
Thankfully E3 isn’t too far away…
