On PC, you’ll want to run at the speed of sound in Sonic Frontiers with adequate hardware. To run this highly anticipated platformer, you’ll want to run it at 60 frames per second at at least 1080p resolution. Here are the PC requirements you need for Sonic Frontiers.

Sonic Frontiers is a highly flexible game that can be run on multiple consoles from the Nintendo Switch all the way to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Thankfully, the PC requirements for Sonic Frontiers are quite accessible. Here are the minimum and recommended specs the publisher Sega recommends:

Minimum Specs

To run Sonic Frontiers at 720p on Low Settings at 30 frames per second, you’ll need the following:

  • A 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, 2 GB or AMD Radeon HD 7870, 2 GB
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 30 GB available space

In order to play Sonic Frontiers at 1080p on High Settings at 60 frames per second, you’ll have to install into your PC:

  • A 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 12 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, 8 GB or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56, 8 GB
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 30 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: 1080p High @ 60 FPS. Requires a CPU which supports the AVX and SSE4 instruction set.

If your PC has trouble running Sonic Frontiers, it may be worth getting the game on a console. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to play it on Xbox with Game Pass; you’ll have to purchase the game at full price. It’s also not available through PlayStation Plus Premium.

Is Sonic Frontiers Worth Playing?

Sonic Frontiers is an all-new direction for a series that has been plagued with bad game design over recent years. The open zones in this experience are fun to explore with all manner of platforming challenges and enemies to fight against. There’s also a skill tree with brand-new abilities to unlock. The story is also quite intriguing with a darker tone to Frontiers. While there are some technical hiccups like pop-in, even on the PS5 version, it still is worth checking out, especially if you’re a Sonic fan.
