So this isn’t really a surprise to most people as Sony has been losing quite a fair bit of money lately, but I noticed a few things about their Playstation 3 game cases a couple days ago.
The last two games I bought for the PS3 were Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. What I found very interesting about these was the quality of the cases. When compared to two other games I had bought new (Killzone 3 and inFamous 2) there was a significant difference. Killzone and inFamous opened smoothly, and if closed right, made almost no sound. Black Ops II and PSASBR on the other hand, open and close like they’re made with super cheap plastic. Of course most cases already were, but you get the point!
I also found something interesting with PSASBR. it had no manual in the case, and instead it was actually ON the disc, digitally. If I had to guess, it’s a way for any game that Sony publishes to save money on printing costs, as there was a Black Ops II manual since it was by a third party publisher.
These two things just go to show that Sony is doing everything they can (at least in the Playstation business) to cut costs and save money. In all honesty though, the cases really aren’t that bad, and you’d get use to them fairly quick. I also kind of like a digital manual (even though I hardly used them anyway) because now I can’t lose it.
