Dotemu and Tribute Games, the publisher and developer behind the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenger, have released a new behind-the-scenes featurette where the developers discuss the design philosophy for the retro-inspired brawler.
For those not in the know, Shredder’s Revenge is a beat-em-up based on the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series from the 1980s, and the team behind the game have spoken about the inspiration behind the game and how those influences have pushed the game to where it is now.
“We designed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge to resemble a season of the classic 1987 cartoon series, treating each stage as if it was its own distinct episode,” said Tribute Games’ co-founder, Jonathan Lavigne.
“Pairing elements of the wider TMNT universe with the inventive styles of battle fans know to expect from the Turtles resulted in the non-stop pacing of an action movie, and the game’s balance of this iconic world’s personality with lighthearted fights is a rush to play.”
To me, that sounds like a dream, but the real question is: will the banging theme tune from the cartoons be in the game? That alone would make the game a worthy purchase. Or you could just look on YouTube…
