We’re usually the first to groan and moan when we hear that a game will be getting single-player DLC before the game has even touched our lips – erm, hands. Usually it ends up being a mission that could have been a part of the main game, but instead it was chopped away and then sold later on. Assassin’s Creed II ring any bells?
That said, we’re confident that Naughty Dog won’t screw over its loyal fan base with such practices. The famed developer did a stellar job with The Last of Us: Left Behind so it’s not too hard to imagine the squad coming out with another top-draw effort, but why is Uncharted 4 being given the single player DLC treatment in the first place?
Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer has explained that it’s because the studio’s first attempt with The Last of Us: Left Behind was such a success, the studio wanted to take another shot at it with Nathan Drakes (supposedly) last adventure.
It’s a bit of an odd one, but if it works out well and doesn’t take anything away from the main meat of the single player campaign, then count us lot in.
There’s no news yet on what the single player DLC will entail, who will be the star and when it will take place in relation to the Uncharted timeline. It could be a side-story from Uncharted 4, or maybe a mini-prequel of sorts set between the events of Uncharted 3 and 4. We’ll have to wait until the game’s release which is this March 18th.
What do you think about Uncharted 4 getting single player download content? Is it a good thing, or would you prefer Naughty Dog didn’t mess around with the story? Opinions down in the comments.
