Many players are asking “When will Disney Speedstorm be free-to-play?”. The popular racer becoming free for all players will be great for those looking for a family-friendly racing game based on their favourite Disney characters.
Without a paywall, it will make the game accessible to families and kids of every age. But when will Disney Speedstorm be free, and what will it include? Let’s get into the answer right now.
- You can get exclusive rewards with Disney Speedstorm’s Twitch Drops.
Is a Disney Speedstorm free to play option coming?
Like Disney Dreamlight Valley, Disney Speedstorm will be available as a free-to-play product when the final version of the game comes out in “late 2023/beginning 2024”, according to the official Steam page.
Currently, in an Early Access form, you can enter the game through a Founder’s Pack. There are three available at varying prices:
- The Standard (£25.99) includes the game, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and a racer of your choice, and other rewards.
- The Deluxe (£44.99) has the game, the aforementioned characters as well as Mulan, and other better rewards
- The Ultimate (£57.99) has the game, everything before, as well as Jack Sparrow and Hercules, in addition to more improved rewards.
However, the exact date for the game leaving Early Access “will depend on the feedback we collect from the community and our development speed before then,” said Gameloft.
Is Disney Speedstorm worth it?
So with a paywall currently set behind Disney Speedstorm, is the game worth paying for? While the game is featured packed with riveting tracks, the characters are hard to unlock.
With the standard edition, you’ll get two Golden Pass unlocks; if you play the game and finish quests, you’ll be able to unlock Sulley and Mike from Monster’s Inc.
For the other characters, however, you’ll need to get ten shards, which are hard to collect. You’ll be opening loot boxes to be able to control the likes of Jack Sparrow or Baloo.
The Universal Box only gave me one shard for Jack Sparrow, so it may take a while.
There’s a great game within Disney Speedstorm, and it does support crossplay, but the microtransactions might be a huge turn-off for you. Disney Dreamlight Valley, in our opinion, is a better value for your money as you unlock characters just by playing the game.
When the game becomes free, Disney Speedstorm might be worth more of a look.
