At last, after 3 weeks of delay, Genshin Impact’s 2.7 patch has arrived and with it, its brand new character: Yelan. A Hydro support character that will definitely help you join the meta’s current game and bring more power capabilities to your account. However, there may be a few reasons as to why you should skip her and it’s a no brainer.
Another like her.
First, by no means Yelan is a bad character. She is just not another Xingqiu but she is a Hydro bow character that scales her abilities from HP, making her a reliable sub-DPS character. Additionally, she has Crit Rate ascension attribute and good baseline stats. Plus, I mean, waifu material right there, duh. But despite all this, there are a few instances where she may not be that good or required to have.
The main issue here is a previous statement: another Xingqiu. By himself, combined with other characters, Xingqiu is an amazing and MUST 4 star unit. Its incredible support can help you in any team he is, further expanding damage to all enemies. It’s true that another one would make things easier in the Abyss, for example, but if you already have him, there is really no point in getting Yelan.
Additionally, if you find yourself lacking units like Hu Tao or Raiden Shogun, Yelan won’t be able to shine as much as you would like. She can work as a DPS, but her main goal is to offer support to teams as a Hydro buffer. If you are missing these characters, perhaps it would be more effective to save for units like Zhongli or Albedo, even main DPS like Hu Tao, Itto or others.
And finally, the ultimate reason as to why you should skip not only Yelan but Arattaki Itto as well.
Kazuha.
Known as the best unit in the entire game, Kazuha can make ANY team good, thanks to only 2 reasons: boost DMG to the whole team and help you make damage to many enemies. The perfect man for reaction teams!
While there is no clear date as to when Kazuha will be released, it’s definitely a very desired character and one that is guaranteed to have a rerun banner before even 3.0. So nothing against the new waifu, but Kazuha will overall help you improve your account even more. However, the decision is yours! Let’s hope that your luck is enough to give you both characters or that one you must want.
