Can you play the Pikmin 4 campaign with friends?
The main story of Pikmin 4 does feature multiplayer features. However, it’s quite limited in the game.
You can’t have two characters running around each level at the same time. Instead, one person plays the main character, and the other assists them by throwing rocks and other objects.
The second person uses rocks to incentivise Pikmin to move faster and eliminate obstacles like walls and glass. Pikpik Carrots can also be utilized to immobilize foes or keep tricky creatures away from the area you’ve thrown one of these vegetables.
Are there are any other multiplayer features in Pikmin 4?
There’s also a 1v1 split-screen Pikmin 4 multiplayer mode called Dandori Battle. Two players can team up against AI opponents or you can compete against each other to see who comes out on top as you strategically issue commands to Pikmin and Oatchi. The aim is to gather items within a time limit and battle it out.
Unfortunately for online players, Pikmin 4 multiplayer options are locked to local play only. It’s possible the developers will add an online multiplayer mode later on like what happened with Super Mario Party and its sequel Mario Party Superstars. If we hear more details.
If you want to test the Pikmin 4 multiplayer during the campaign, you can try the demo before buying the game. This demo is still available and it allows you to play for a good few hours into the story. Give it a try if you’re not sure whether to pick it up or not.
