If you’ve explored all of Great Sky Island in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you might want to know how to cross the broken rail. There’s a certain section of the island that can’t be accessed the normal way with the mine carts, but there’s another way to cross the broken rail.
Tears of the Kingdom: Where is the broken rail?
You can find the broken rail in Tears of the Kingdom on the Great Sky Island. It’s after the section inside the caves with all the mine carts.
At the end of the cave system is a Zonai helper processing Zonaite in a smelter. Then after that area, you’ll need to leave the cave by building a mine cart and placing it on the bending rail.
After reaching the end of the mine cart section, you’ll see a Korok who needs to be escorted to his friend. Over by the Korok’s friend is the broken rail, just up on the hill.

Tears of the Kingdom: How to cross the broken rail
The solution to crossing the broken rail in Tears of the Kingdom is attaching a hook to a mine cart, and hanging the cart off the rail. You can grab a hook from nearby and drop it over the left rail. The right rail is the one that’s broken, so avoid that one.
Once the hook is in place, attach a mine cart to the underside of it. Then place a fan on the back to propel the mine cart forwards. This should send you across to the other side thanks to your new hook!
There are lots of things you can build to get to different places in the game, and experimenting will often result in some crazy solutions.
That’s everything you need to know about how to solve the Tears of the Kingdom broken rail puzzle.
