Keeping warm and making food is key to survival, so it’s a good thing you can start fires in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. With two key materials, you can begin a flame anywhere and get some rest. You can also cook meals that give Link his health back in tough fights. Here’s how to start fires in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How to begin fires in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
You can start fires in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from almost anywhere. In the open world, you can find Wood and Flint; these are the two resources you need to build a flame.
Wood can be received by chopping down trees with an axe and then breaking it down further into stacks. You can also take down trees with sharp weapons, but the axe is the most handy for the situation.
Flint can be gathered in caves around Hyrule. Look for shiny larger rocks around these cavernous areas. Break them down with a hammer and start swinging at them until they fall. You’ll gather Flint among other resources like Rubies, Opal, and Amber.
Once you gathered both of these materials, go to the equipment menu and press the L or R buttons to tab over to the “Materials” menu. Select them and have Link hold both the Flint and Wood. Now, you’ll want to drop them to the ground. Equip any weapon, and then strike both of the materials to create fire. It makes no scientific sense, but it works in the world of Hyrule.
Can you use a pot nearby the fire?
There are multiple options if you want to cook with a pot nearby the fire. You can simply set up a fire nearby a pot and then transfer the flame over to the boil. Otherwise, you can use a Portable Pot Zonai Device from a dispenser. You can also choose to sleep until Morning, Noon, or Night if you interact with the fire.
