Ubisoft has announced today via press release that ZOMBI will be returning to retail shelves, though this time it’s for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game originally released digitally on the three aforementioned platforms sometime after it’s original run as a Wii U exclusive. It’s an odd choice as the game was a budget release on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so to try and sell it as a full-priced game would be a bit of a bold move. There’s no word on pricing yet, though, so we’ll hold off on our judgement for the time being.
After being one of the Wii U flagship titles in 2012, ZOMBI returns to an infected London challenging players to dive into the horror and survive. Players can now experience this fear-fueled first person shooter with the original oppressive and intense elements that made ZombiU so innovative, optimized for a new generation of hardware. A number of updates have also been introduced in this reawakened version, including new melee weapons, faster load times, improved flashlight gameplay and overall visual effects.
Ubisoft has also sent over the official box art for each version of the game, so give them a gander down in the gallery below. It’s interesting to note that the box-art for the next-gen editions are different from the Wii U edition.
ZOMBI will hit retail stores on January 21st, 2016. We’ll be keeping an eye out for pre-orders and pricing.
[Update: We’ve since found that Amazon Japan has the game up for pre-order for around 3000 Yen which when converted to dollars and pounds equals to roughly $25 and £20, respectively. There’s nothing official from Ubisoft yet, but it looks like you won’t be paying full price for your boxed copy of ZOMBI.]
