Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: Dates and times
To celebrate seven years of Pokemon GO, a special in-game event titled the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party will occur from Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 10am to Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 8pm local time.
Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: New costumed Wartortle and Blastoise debut
For the first time in the game‘s history, Trainers can get hold of Wartortle wearing a party hat and Blastoise wearing a party hat. This costumed variation of Blastoise can be Shiny too!
To get these iconic Squirtle evolutions wearing a party hat, you must use Squirtle Candy to evolve Squirtle wearing a party hat.
Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: Event Bonuses
The Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party offers several Event Bonuses, including:
- Increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends.
- Increased chance of Pokemon becoming Lucky through trades.
- Chance of finding Gimmighoul Coins when you spin a PokeStop with a Golden Lure Module.
Also, additional bonuses will rotate in and out each day of the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party. These bonuses will remain active from 12am to 11:59pm local time each day:
- July 6: Double XP for catching Pokemon.
- July 7: Double Stardust for catching Pokemon.
- July 8: Double Candy for catching Pokemon.
- July 9: 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator.
- July 10: Friendship levels will increase twice as fast.
- July 11: Double Candy for transferring Pokemon.
- July 12: Double XP for evolving Pokemon.
Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: Wild encounters
The following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild throughout the duration of the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party:
- Squirtle wearing a party hat
- Pikachu wearing a cake hat
- Meowth
- Ponyta
- Togedemaru
- Galarian Ponyta
- Absol
You will find that depending on what day it is, you will experience frequent encounters with other Pokemon too:
- July 6: Bulbasaur wearing a party hat, Charmander wearing a party hat, and Squirtle wearing a party hat
- July 7: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile
- July 8: Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip
- July 9: Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup
- July 10: Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott
- July 11: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie
- July 12: Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio
The majority of these Pokemon, aside from a few like Togedemaru, Froakie, Rowlet, Litten, and Poplio, can appear in their Shiny variants occasionally.

Raids held during the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party will contain the following Pokemon:
One-Star Raids
- Bulbasaur wearing a party hat
- Charmander wearing a party hat
- Squirtle wearing a party hat
- Pikachu wearing a cake hat
Three-Star Raids
- Magneton
- Lapras
- Flareon
- Snorlax
- Sealeo
Five-Star Raids
- Articuno
- Zapdos
- Moltres
Mega Raids
- Mega Blastoise
Of these Raid Pokemon, Magneton, Flareon, and Sealeo are the only ones without a Shiny variant in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: Field Research task encounters
To keep Trainers busy, the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party will include anniversary-themed Field Research tasks. Completing these tasks will award encounters with Starter Pokemon like Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, and Mudkip. You can also receive Mega Energy for the following Pokemon:
- Venusaur
- Charizard
- Blastoise
- Sceptile
- Blaziken
- Swampert
Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: Timed Research
While the 7th Anniversary Party is ongoing, Trainers can pay $2 to access an event-exclusive Timed Research. You can earn all sorts of goodies for completing the tasks, including:
- 1× Incubator
- 1× Super Incubator
- 1× Premium Battle Pass
- 1× Lucky Egg
- 1× Rocket Radar
- 1× Star Piece
- 1× Incense
- 77,777 XP
- An encounter with Pikachu wearing a party hat
You have until Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 8pm local time to complete the Timed Research tasks and claim your rewards.

Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: Masterwork Research story
Perhaps the biggest draw of the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party is the opportunity to take on the Masterwork Research story, All-in-One #151. This Masterwork Research story hasn’t been available since Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto in 2021, but it’s back now for a limited time in honour of Pokemon GO’s seventh anniversary.
The Masterwork Research story costs $5 to unlock, but for many Trainers, it’s probably worth it, as completing it awards a guaranteed encounter with Shiny Mew. The Masterwork Research story is lengthy, but once you purchase it, there is no deadline for when you must complete it.
Trainers with this Masterwork Research story will receive the following bonuses during the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party:
- Double Incense duration
- Double Daily Adventure Incense duration
- Double Lure Duration
Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party: Squirtle Community Day Classic
On Sunday, July 9, from 2pm until 5pm local time, a Community Day Classic featuring Pokemon #0007, Squirtle, will occur. This three-hour event is the perfect time to capture Shiny Squirtle.

The in-game shop will be stocked with the following avatar items during the Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary Party:
