Which Pokemon Can Undergo Primal Reversion In Pokemon GO?
So far, the Legendary Pokemon Kyogre and Groudon hailing from the Hoenn region are the only two Pokemon capable of undergoing Primal Reversion In Pokemon GO or any other Pokemon title.
When Primal Reversion goes live, the Pokedex category for Mega Pokemon will be updated to include Pokemon that have undergone Primal Reversion.
How To Use Primal Reversion In Pokemon GO
To initiate Primal Reversion in Kyogre or Groudon, Trainers must collect Primal Energy. You can earn Primal Energy by defeating Primal Kyogre or Primal Groudon in Raid Battles or by completing specific research tasks.
You can view how much Primal Energy you need to commence Primal Reversion by checking Kyogre or Groudon’s Summary page. Here, you can also activate Primal Reversion in your eligible Pokemon.
After entering their primal forms, Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon will stay in their primal form for eight hours before changing back to their standard form. The more a Kyogre or Groudon transforms into their primal form, the less Primal Energy you’ll need to initiate Primal Reversion.

Benefits Of Primal Reversion In Pokemon GO
Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon receive the following bonuses:
- When Primal Kyogre is in your party, Water-, Electric-, and Bug-type attacks will benefit from attack bonuses in raids.
- When Primal Kyogre is your buddy, catching Water-, Electric-, and Bug-type Pokemon will grant you additional XP and Candy.
- When Primal Groudon is in your party, Fire-, Grass-, and Ground-type attacks will benefit from attack bonuses in raids.
- When Primal Groudon is your buddy, catching Fire-, Grass-, and Ground-type Pokemon will grant you additional XP and Candy.

Pokemon GO Primal Reversion: Where To Find Primal Pokemon In Pokemon GO
Trainers can encounter Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon for the first time at Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas. This event kicks off on February 18, 2023. If you can’t make it to Las Vegas, Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon are expected to make their appearance globally beginning February 25, 2023, with Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn – Global.
You will find Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon inside Primal Raids. Primal Raids occur during specific periods and are like regular Raid Battles, except the Pokemon in Primal Raids are more powerful.
Kyogre encountered in Primal Raids will know the Charged Attack Origin Pulse, while Groudon encountered in Primal Raids will know the Charged Attack Precipice Blade.
During Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas and Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn – Global, Trainers can complete Primal Surge Field Research for increased opportunities to encounter Primal Kyogre or Primal Groudon in raids.
