Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Dates and times
The Pokemon GO Dark Flames event begins on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 10am and runs to Sunday, July 2, 2023, at 8pm local time.

Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Turtonator and Mega Sableye debut
Two brand-new Pokemon will debut in the game during Pokemon GO Dark Flames. Turtonator, the Blast Turtle Pokemon, will appear in Three-Star Raids, while Mega Sableye is reserved for Mega Raids.
Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Wild encounters
The following Pokemon will roam the wilds during the Dark Flames event:
- Vulpix
- Houndour
- Poochyena
- Galarian Zigzagoon
- Carvanha
- Numel
- Stunky
- Litwick
- Litten
- Houndoom
- Sableye
Aside from Stunky and Litten, all these Pokemon can appear in their Shiny variants on rare occasions.
Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Raids
Below is a list of the Pokemon that will occupy raids during the Dark Flames event:
One-Star Raids

Three-Star Raids
- Alolan Marowak
- Gyarados
- Flareon
- Umbreon
- Turtonator
Five-Star Raids
- Heatran
Mega Raids
- Mega Sableye
Heatran encountered in raids during the Dark Flames event are unique in that they know the Charged Attack Magma Storm. And if you’re a shiny hunter, be aware that Sneasel, Darumaka, Deino, Alolan Marowak, Turtonator, Heatran, and Mega Sableye all have Shiny variants.
Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Event Bonuses
The Pokemon GO Dark Flames event offers a plethora of Event Bonuses, including:
- Additional 25% XP for completing raids.
- Three additional Candy for completing raids.
- Trainers level 31 and above will receive one additional Candy XL for completing raids.
- Team GO Rocket Grunts using Fire-type and Dark-type Pokemon will appear more frequently at PokeStops and in balloons.
And depending on what path you choose for your Timed Research, you will receive one of the following bonuses:
- Incense is more likely to attract Fire-type Pokemon (excluding Daily Adventure Incense).
- Incense is more likely to attract Dark-type Pokemon (excluding Daily Adventure Incense).
Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Branching Timed Research
The Dark Flames event features a branching Timed Research where Trainers must select between two paths — one focused on Fire-type Pokemon and the other revolving around Dark-type Pokemon. Completing the research tasks will net you a Premium Battle Pass, 15,000 XP, and encounters with event-themed Pokemon.
Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Field Research task encounters
The Pokemon GO Dark Flames event includes themed Field Research tasks that award encounters with the following Pokemon upon completion:
- Alolan Meowth
- Alolan Grimer
- Alolan Marowak
- Magmar
- Sneasel
- Litwick
- Turtonator
All the Pokemon you can encounter via Dark Flames Field Research tasks have Shiny variants too!

Pokemon GO Dark Flames: Collection Challenge
The Dark Flames event will also incorporate a Collection Challenge. Your Collection Challenge will vary depending on which Timed Research path you selected. Completing the Collection Challenge by the end of the Dark Flames event will net you 5,000 XP and 100 Houndoom Mega Energy.
