Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Region
Paldea, The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet region, is a vast open land inspired by the geography, architecture, and culture of the Iberian Peninsula. There are some stark differences as seen above, but ancient craters and every possible biome in one region aside, it’s a good fit.
On the official Pokémon website, Paldea is described as “a land of vast open spaces dotted with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and perilous mountain ranges.” Variety seems like one of the big selling points of this new region with some high-fantasy-looking geography in some places.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Region Pokemon
It’s also a great mechanic to compliment the huge amount of Pokémon in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Pokédex. The region is also home to eight different gyms, which, in a franchise first, can be taken on in any order the player desires.
There are around 100 new Pokemon to catch that are exclusive to the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet region Paldea. The National Pokedex contains 400 Pokemon at present, so there are plenty of familiar Pocket Monsters too.
Paldea Roaming and Questlines
Another big feature of the Paldea region is that it can be explored freely. Pokémon Legends Arceus was notable earlier in the year for allowing open-world exploration, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have carried on this idea, allowing players to move from towns into the wild seamlessly.
This idea of freedom is further leaned into by offering three main storyline experiences that can be done simultaneously:
- Victory Road
- The much-loved Pokemon Gym and League experience is back, and trainers can complete this in any order they like.
- Path of Legends
- Uncover the mysteries of Titan Pokemon and the link between Koraidon / Miraidon and the great crater
- Starfall Street
- Tackle Team Star in a series of base battles with a brand-new game mechanic thrown in
The main thing to remember here is that Gyms and other tasks do not scale in difficulty. Gyms can still be tackled in order if trainers know the order, however.
There’s plenty to see and do in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet region, Paldea. It’s safe to say that this Pokemon adventure is truly unique.
