Rumour: Microsoft Lists Mirror’s Edge Reboot For 2015 Release

It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally getting another Mirror’s Edge game, though it’s not the true sequel we all expected it’s probably going to go down a treat anyway.

The upcoming first-person parkour/punch-people-in-the-face action game is actually a prequel/reboot of the franchise, so a fresh start and a good opportunity for those who missed out on the original Mirror’s Edge on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

DICE and EA are keeping pretty quiet when it comes to Mirror’s Edge. Since the reveal back in 2013 we’ve heard almost nothing about the title. Well, that’s not entirely true – the original voice actors may be reprising their roles.

What we really want to know is when we’ll be able to jump from across the city skyline whilst kicking fools in the jaw.

Unfortunately that’s not clear either, though Microsoft may have something to say about that.

Over on the Microsoft store (not the Xbox Live marketplace) Mirror’s Edge is listed for the Xbox One, which in itself isn’t a surprise, but the release date is.

The Microsoft store has attached a 2015 release date to the reboot which is expected to release on Microsoft’s Xbox One as well as the PS4 and PC platforms.

It’s previously been mentioned that we shouldn’t expect Mirror’s Edge on the next-gen machines until 2016 at the earliest, something that would make sense given that DICE are extremely busy with the Star Wars: Battlefront reboot amongst other things.

It’s also possible that this is a placeholder date set by the retail arm of Microsoft’s business, though we’d expect the platform holder to know a little more about the goings on when it comes to release dates.

Until EA and DICE pass on an official release date this one can go on the rumour pile.

Please let it be this year, we’ve waited far too long.
