Paladin Class Guide Overview
The Paladin in Lost Ark is a Warrior type that wields a One Handed Sword and a Holy Tome of Scriptures. His musical instrument is a Warhorn. The Paladin has 2 types of attacks: Primal Light Skills (Yellow) or Fencing Skills (Blue). Generally, Primal Light skills have a supportive element, whereas Fencing skills are strictly attack based.
Their Identity Gauge, the Scales of Fate, fills up upon successful hits with skills to enemies. Once the Identity Gauge is full, the player has the ability to choose between 2 unique skills:
- Judgment (Blue skill) – increase the radius and damage of their own attacks
- or
- Blessed Aura (Yellow skill) – increase the damage of allies within a certain radius around the Paladin
Judgment is generally only used for solo types of content or when there is another support in the party. Blessed Aura is the preferred identity skill to use while in a party as it far provides more benefits than if the Paladin were to only buff themselves. This is further emphasized when the Class Engraving: Blessed Aura is attained. With this engraving enabled, it also provides healing and damage reduction when the identity skill Blessed Aura is used.
Role of a Paladin
In both PvE and PvP, Paladins provide many useful synergies to the party. This is achieved with damage mitigation, providing an attack power buff, and applying a debuff on the target that increases it’s damage taken. While they can do damage and fair well on their own, their biggest attraction is to group content with their shields and buffs and some minor healing.
The Paladin is better off aiding their allies than being a sole damage dealer. The Identity Skill: Blessed Aura is always the preferred skill to use as it will provide a damage mitigation buff and heals when used.
While you are totally welcome to play as a DPS and advance in content that way, in higher tier content many groups would rather take a pure DPS class over a DPS Paladin. Know that they would not pass on a Support Paladin if they didn’t already have a Bard support.
Strengths
- Provides Shields to self and party members
- Provides Aura Buff to increase attack power
- Provides Aura Buff to reduce damage taken
- Provides Debuff on target that increases damage taken
- Provides Heals to self and party members
- Slightly higher damage than Bard
Weaknesses
- Lower overall damage compared to some DPS classes
- Slightly lower healing and mana regen compared to Bard

Paladin Leveling Guide
We recommend you to just try out all the skills and play for whatever is the most fun for you. However, if you just want to speed up the process (maybe thats the most fun for you) or you’re tying to power through with levelling an alt, follow this level by level breakdown of what skills to use and level up and which tripods to activate.
You can swap between saved skill tree slots whenever for free (even in combat as long as no skills are on cooldown). It’s recommended to use both your skillbook slots, choose abilities based on this: one for AoE and one for Single Target (Boss/Elites).
For solo content only use the Identity Skill Judgment; for group content only use Blessed Aura. (Blessed Aura only benefits other party members)

Combat
Early Game Enemies: Spin Slash > Flash Thrust
Early Bosses: Back attack with Spin Slash or Flash Thrust. Front attack with Punishment or Executor’s Sword. Then whatever is off cooldown.
Late Game Enemies: Wrath of God and Holy Explosion. Group up enemies and AoE them, then finish them off with Flash Thrust.
Late Game Bosses: Back attack with Flash Thrust then use Punishment and Executors Sword. Followed by a well timed Holy Sword.
Finally, for movement where you can’t mount use Charge and Dash Slash and then use Spacebar near the end of each skills animation to cancel it and move just slightly faster.
Gear
Just equip the highest Item Lv. item you find. Focus on Swiftness for increased movement speed, reduced casting time, and faster skill cooldowns. Secondly, your next best stat is Crit.
Level 50
At level 50 the final skill and first awakening will be available. In order to unlock them you need to complete the Main Story Questline in Vern City where Beatrice will tell you to visit her in Trixion. Here she will reward you with the Awakening Skill: Alithanes’s Judgmentand the level 50 skill End of the World.
Paladin PvE Guide
Below are our detailed articles on the different styles of play the Paladin can have in Lost Ark. For PvE, a character who has just reached level 50 combat level can now access their Final Skill and the Awakening Skills. For optimal play, players should make use of the 2 Skill Presets that they have access to for free. Generally speaking, they should be set up for:
- Multiple Targets: AoE Skills utilized in Chaos Dungeons, The Cube, etc.
- Bosses: Single Target Skills utilized in Guardian Raids and Abyss Dungeons
The Class Engravings can also change the way you choose your skills. Once the effects of your chosen one have been applied to your gear, you may need to change your skills accordingly. Generally, for paladin only the Blessed Aura engraving is utilized. However, the Judgment engraving can be used in addition at Lv. 1.

Engravings
Mandatory
The Awakening engraving allows for more usages in Raids and more frequent usage. Using the awakening skill also fills up the Identity Gauge very quickly so that you can use the Blessed Aura more often. Blessed Aura is also a no brainer as you will now heal when using the Identity Skill. Finally, Specialist will come in handy for party members who are below 50% HP. It provides increased healing and efficiency of shields when using Holy Protection and Holy Aura.

Optional
Spirit Absorption is a great option to reduce cooldowns on skills. Judgment (Lv. 1. only) will help fill the Identity Gauge faster when you use Fencing Skills. Heavy Armor Equipment is nice if strictly playing support. Otherwise, if you’d prefer to be a DPS, take Grudge instead of Heavy Armor Equipment.
