Paladin Lost Ark Class Guide

Detailed breakdown of the Paladin Class in Lost Ark
Paladin Class Guide

This guide goes over everything you need to know about the Paladin Class in Lost Ark. Showcasing an overview of the Paladin and it’s playstyle. What are the Paladin’s strengths and weakness; from levelling to end game content. The role that Paladins fulfill in Raids, Dungeons, and PvP. This guide will go over skill abilities, builds, and tips to help you become a top-tier Paladin.

Paladin Class Guide Overview

The Paladin in Lost Ark is a Warrior type that wields a One Handed Sword and a Holy Tome of Scriptures. His musical instrument is a Warhorn. The Paladin has 2 types of attacks: Primal Light Skills (Yellow) or Fencing Skills (Blue). Generally, Primal Light skills have a supportive element, whereas Fencing skills are strictly attack based. Both types of attacks fill up the Paladins Identity Gauge: Scales of Fate. Once the Identity Gauge is full, the player will choose either to increase the radius and damage of their own attacks (Blue: Judgement), or to increase the damage of allies within a certain radius around the Paladin (Yellow: Blessed Aura).

Role of a Paladin

Paladins are one of two support classes. While they can do damage and fair well on their own, their biggest attraction to group content is to shield and buff party members and do some minor healing.

While you are totally welcome to play as a DPS and advance in content that way, in higher tier content many groups would rather take a pure DPS class over a DPS Paladin. Know that they would not pass on a Support Paladin if they didn’t already have a Bard support.

Strengths

  • Provides Shields to self and party members
  • Provides Aura Buff to increase attack power
  • Provides Aura Buff to reduce damage taken
  • Provides Debuff on target that increases damage taken
  • Provides Heals to self and party members
  • Slightly higher damage than Bard

Weaknesses

  • Lower overall damage compared to some DPS classes
  • Slightly fewer defensive healing options compared to Bard

Paladin Levelling Guide

We recommend you to just try out all the skills and play for whatever is the most fun for you. However, if you just want to speed up the process (maybe thats the most fun for you) or you’re tying to power through with levelling an alt, follow this level by level breakdown of what skills to use and level up and which tripods to activate.

You can swap between saved skill tree slots whenever for free (even in combat as long as no skills are on cooldown). It’s recommended to use both your skillbook slots, choose abilities based on this: one for AoE and one for Single Target (Boss/Elites).

For solo content only use the Identity Skill Judgment; for group content only use Blessed Aura. (Blessed Aura only benefits other party members)

Skill Progression

Below is a chart that shows progression of placement of skill points and their Tripods. Early on, focusing on Blue skills to take down small packs and high mobility when moving between mobs. Then later using Yellow skills to AoE larger groups with ease.

Combat

Early Game Enemies: Spin Slash > Flash Thrust

Early Bosses: Back attack with Spin Slash or Flash Thrust. Front attack with Punishment or Executor’s Sword. Then whatever is off cooldown.

Late Game Enemies: Wrath of God and Holy Explosion. Group up enemies and AoE them, then finish them off with Flash Thrust.

Late Game Bosses: Back attack with Flash Thrust then use Punishment and Executors Sword. Followed by a well timed Holy Sword.

Finally, for movement where you can’t mount use Charge and Dash Slash and then use Spacebar near the end of each skills animation to cancel it and move just slightly faster.

Gear

Just equip the highest Item Lv. item you find. Focus on Agility for increased movement speed, reduced casting time, and faster skill cooldowns. Secondly, your next best stat is Specialization.

Paladin Solo Content Guide

Here’s the general strategy for Paladins Chaos Dungeons, Tower Event, and solo Quests. Focus on grouping up enemies and using AoE abilities like Heavenly Blessings, Wrath of God, and Holy Explosion. These should clear most enemies. If targets are lined up in front of you use Executor’s Sword and Holy Sword, then clean up with Flash Thrust.

You can also experiment using Holy Protection instead of Executor’s Sword to shield yourself while you cast Holy Explosion for further AoE Nuking.

Below is a solo build that focuses on clearing trash quickly.

Paladin Solo PvE Stat Priority

Maximize Crit as your primary stat; then Swiftness. Roughly a 80/20 split is optimal.

Paladin Skills Solo PvE Build

This build requires 296 Skill Points which will require the collecting all the available Points in Shushire or if you have Rohendel unlocked, then you can grab some from there.

Paladin Group Content Guide

Here’s the general strategy for Paladins Guardian Raids, Chaos Dungeons and Abyss Dungeons in a group setting: Alternate using Heavenly Blessings and Wrath of God to keep the Attack Power Buff on Party Members. Use Light Shock on Cooldown to keep the 10% Increased Damage Taken Debuff on the boss. Mitigate damage taken with Godsent Law for heavy hitting attacks or Holy Land if on Cooldown. Use Holy Protection to shield and heal with the 3rd Tripod Vow of Light. And lastly, try to Counter any interruptible abilities with Holy Sword.

Paladin Party PvE Stat Priority

Maximize Specialization as your primary stat; then Swiftness. Either 50/50 split or up to 70/30 are optimal ranges.

This build requires 284 Skill Points which will require the collecting all the available Points in Shushire or if you have Rohendel unlocked, then you can grab some from there.

Paladin PvP Guide

In Player versus Player Arenas, Paladins are a valuable asset to the team. They are fairly strong at holding out in 1v1, provide great utility for buffing teammates, and are decent at poking and peeling targets.

Engravings

Mandatory

The Awakening engraving allows for more usages and more frequent usage. It also fills up the Identity Gauge very quickly so that you can use the Blessed Aura more often in Party content. Blessed Aura is also a no brainer as you will now heal when using the Identity Skill.

Optional

Spirit Absorption is a great option to reduce cooldowns on skills. Judgment will help fill the Identity Gauge faster when you use Fencing Skills. Heavy Armor Equipment is nice if strictly playing support. Otherwise, if you’d prefer to be a DPS, take Grudge instead of Heavy Armor Equipment.
