Pets and companions are one of the staple features of ESO that have gotten new additions with every significant update. However, when it comes to combat pets in ESO, we haven’t seen any changes. Moreover, many new players don’t know that they even exist in the game, and those who do may be confused about which classes and combat pets they should choose.
Keep reading our guide as we explain how you can get combat pets in ESO while detailing how they work and which combat pet is best for you.

How to get a combat pet in ESO
In ESO, you can get combat pets using classes that feature them. The game offers quite a few classes that have the ability to summon a combat pet using one of their skill or ultimate ability. However, only a few can permanently have combat pets by their side.
Which classes in ESO use combat pets?
At the time of writing, there are two classes, Sorcerer and Warden, that use combat pets. Apart from that, classes like Necromancer can also summon undead, but they are temporary and barely fit the combat pet description.

Even Werewolf’s morph ability allows you to have a pack of wolves around you when you use your ultimate. But then again, you cannot count it as a combat pet.
So, for the time being, we have only two classes in ESO that can use combat pets.
What combat pet to use in ESO?
Here are the different combat pets that Sorcerer and Warden can use in ESO:
- Sorcerer combat pets
- Scamps
- Clannfears
- Winged Twilights
- Storm Atronachs
- Warden combat pets
- Bear
If you are using the Sorcerer class, you have multiple combat pets by your side. We recommend using Scamps and Winged Twilight or Winged Twilight and Storm Atronach, as then you can proc Shock damage and use Charged Lightning synergy to increase the damage of the Storm Atronach by 25%.

On the other hand, if you are using the Warden class, you don’t have much choice, as you can obtain only one combat pet as an ultimate upon levelling up your Animal Companion skill line.
