How to Unlock the Camera in Tears of the Kingdom
Getting the quest to unlock the camera
Getting the camera in Tears of the Kingdom is not something you get until much later in the game. You get the Camera by doing a quest for Josha. This requires you to have gone to the first village in Tears of the Kingdom named Lookout Landing. Once you have gotten your hands on the Paraglider, you will be all set to begin this quest.
Speak to Josha and Robbie at the Northern Gate and you will find them talking about the research they have been doing into the Depths and what is hidden in the Chasms. Here is when you’ll be given a quest to help Robbie by researching what is down in the Depths. As a reward, he will give you the Camera feature on the Purah Pad.
This will take you to the Chasm that is in the Hyrule Fields where you’ll then be able to dive into the Chasm without faceplanting the ground, as you now have the Paraglider that you can use before you hit the floor.
Completing the quest to unlock the camera
Once you are down in the Depths, you will find one of the researchers down there. So that you don’t get terribly lost, there is a trail of campfires for you to follow. It’s also wise to make sure that you have plenty of Brightbloom Seeds to light the way for those extra dark parts of the Depths.
There will be an Iayusus Lightroot you can interact with whilst you’re there, cleansing your hearts of any Decay damage that you may have taken, as well as lighting up the vicinity. Head to the West to go to the next Lightroot. However, this path has some peril on the way as there is Decay and enemies en route.
Now that you’ve made it to the next Lightroot, you’ll finally see Robbie who will give you your reward for your efforts. Not only does this unlock the Camera, but it also unlocks the Compendium tab, which is a very useful place to refer back to for information about enemies that you have scanned thus far.
Robbie will ask you to take a couple of pictures for him, and then you can fast-travel back to Lookout Landing to hand the quest in. You will be given x5 Zonaite for your efforts.
