Just riding off the hype of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Nintendo announced on Twitter that a roughly 40-minute Nintendo Direct will be presented tomorrow, on February 9th. Just barely a day in advance, this is surprising but at the same time it’s nothing new, as they’ve done this with a number of Directs in the past (not to mention that Directs in February have become a bit of a pattern for them). Nonetheless, it’s definitely a welcome announcement.
As you can see, they specified that the Direct will focus on games coming in the first half of the year. There’s not a lot of games we know for sure will show up based off of that alone, maybe we’ll get more news on Kirby and The Forgotten Land. Personally, I’d like to see more details on the Monster Hunter Rise DLC expansion.
That doesn’t mean games in the second half or next year are exempt. In that sense, I’d like to see more news about Splatoon 3. I know lots of people are looking forward to seeing the Breath of the Wild sequel there as well, so maybe Nintendo will give us a bit more news on that. The Demon Slayer arena fighter was confirmed for the Switch so maybe that will make an appearance.
The times for the Direct are 5:00 PM EST, 4:00 PM CST, and 2:00 PM PST. It’s nice that it’s happening at this time, rather than early in the morning. Maybe that’s why they were fine with announcing it with so little time left. You can catch the Direct livestream on their YouTube channel and set a reminder before it airs (or go there directly from the link above).
If you’re going to watch the Direct, remember to keep your expectations tempered so that you don’t want too much and get disappointed when you don’t get everything. That being said, will you be tuning in? What are you looking forward to seeing? I’d love to hear your thoughts, and I hope the presentation has something for everyone tomorrow.
